Modern technology has always been geared towards the production of more effective weaponry. Also depending on machines and modern transportation put people at a distinct disadvantage, because they became less self – reliant. Be the first to invent new gadgets and latest electronics including those used in modern warfare, use other nations as market for finished goods, and to have a strong voice and be able to influence other countries.
And I’m certainly not suggesting that we abandon all technology and go back to the primal times (at least not yet). For example teaching them modern medicine, metallurgy, basic mechanical engineering, invent a flywheel powered lathe, pasteurization and other food preservation techniques.
If a technology is new to them, such as the use of pesticides and herbicides, it will likely be difficult for them to compare advantages and disadvantages. If the defense is the main concern I think gunpowder is the most feasible advanced technology to introduce on a disruptively large scale with the resources available at the time.
This is a beginning for them, to become aware that each new technology has drawbacks and benefits and that people have different ideas about these consequences. A modern mix with a lot of great influences from the 80:s and todays electronic masters. As a student i really do appreciate the advancement of technologies and I think all of us benefits from it. We, students are the most individuals who need technology in life.
